With your continued support, we can make Indiana and National Charter Schools Week large-scale media events, garnering positive attention for all of your schools. In February 2008, upon the request of CSSC, Gov. Mitch Daniels proclaimed February 18th—22nd (same week as the Indiana Charter School Conference) as Indiana Charter Schools Week. Read the GEO Foundation news release about the announcement. The CSSC produced the Annual Charter School Conference in 2008 and plans to continue to do so in future years. More than 250 attendees gathered at the Indiana Convention Center for last year’s event. The only statewide gathering of Indiana charter school leaders and stakeholders, the Conference boasted a total of 20 breakout sessions, 15 informal table talks, and keynote luncheon addresses from Mayor Ballard and Jay Mathews, Washington Post education writer, as well as other speakers including Jeanne Allen of the Center for Education Reform, Dean Kern of the US Department of Education, and Award Recipients State Senator Earline Rogers and Representative Robert Behning. CSSC Members are eligible for discounted entry to the Conference. Stay tuned for details about the 2009 conference and ways that we can work together to show Indiana the value our schools add to their communities. |
